This session is designed for parents and caregivers who want to approach discipline in ways that de-center punishment and reinforce relationship. We'll begin with a brief overview of Transformative Justice (TJ), and then, through interactive activities, we will draw distinctions between TJ and other approaches to harm, including punitive or carceral approaches and restorative justice.

 

Together, we will connect TJ's values with the act of parenting. What are some of the ways TJ and parenting are already similar? What can TJ offer to us as parents and caregivers?

 

Finally, we'll work through real-life scenarios through the lens of Transformative Justice and imagine new ways of responding.
