Rachael Levine is a textiles artist and fashion designer with a focus on Shibori fabric dyeing and textile manipulation. She creates apparel and accessories under her art-to-wear collection, ARAE.
Choosing mainly to create with natural materials, she works with silk chiffon, boiled wool, bamboo fleece, Mongolian lamb fur, organic cotton, and hemp. Her studio practice involves cutting, sewing, pattern making, Shibori, and block printing.
Prioritizing zero waste design has lead way to fabric manipulation techniques including weaving/braiding, twisting, patchwork, and applique, mainly with silk chiffon and boiled wool.
