Make a Ceramic
Grief Altar
With Leah Rushing
June 3 (create) + July 6 (glaze)
5:30-7:30
For adults
Grief is one of the few universal human experiences. We lose people we love, relationships we cherished, versions of ourselves, futures we imagined. And between the macro grief of the world we're collectively navigating and the micro grief we each carry in our personal lives, there's no shortage of what we're all moving through.
This two-part workshop offers a place to put it somewhere.
Using clay and hand-building techniques, you'll create a personal altar, a physical object made to hold the things you're carrying. Memorial items, mementos, meaning. The structural process is guided, so no ceramics experience is needed. What matters is showing up.
As we work, there will be space to talk openly, without pressure. Grief can be isolating, and sometimes the act of making something with your hands while sitting alongside other people who get it is exactly what's needed.
Come as you are. We'll build something together.
