LET'S CALM DOWN

With Rachel Askelson + Michelle Conrad

One Monday a month

4:30-5:30

For Parents + Children early-middle childhood

This is a playful, hands-on workshop for parents and kids to learn simple, practical tools for navigating big feelings together.

This is not a lecture or a parenting class. It’s an opportunity for families to slow down, connect and practice regulation in a way that feels approachable and even fun. Together, we’ll explore self awareness by noticing what's happening in our bodies, regulation tools, gentle breathing, movement, connection, and language that families can use in real life. Families will practice tools like expressing feelings and naming them, breathing, a one-minute hug and small resets that actually fit into everyday moments.

Parents and kids participate side by side, learning how to co-regulate and support one another without pressure or perfection. The goal is not to “fix” emotions, but to build shared understanding and a few simple rituals that help everyone feel a little more grounded.

This time is designed to feel light, supportive and useful. Parents and children will leave with a shared experience, a common language and tools you can bring home and return to when things feel big.

A Note on Age

Let’s Calm Down is designed to support children across early and middle childhood.

For younger children, the focus is on exposure. Tools like breathing, movement, and emotional language are explored through play and co-regulation with a caregiver. For older children, the experience deepens as they become ready to notice sensations, name emotions, and use regulation tools with more intention.

Each session naturally ebbs and flows to meet the group where they are. This experience is designed to grow with your child.
